C.S. Lewis once wrote, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.”

Growing up, I had difficulty accepting advice from older individuals. I believed that they were attempting to impose their outdated beliefs on me. However, I now realize that my lack of humility prevented me from learning and growing.

It is interesting that this proverb urges young people to humble themselves before their elders, not because they are superior, but because they possess wisdom. I encourage both young and old to embrace humility and tune out the noise. Listen to one another under the guidance of God’s authoritative voice, for He grants grace to the humble.
