2 Samuel 22:28 (NKJV) “You will save the humble people; but Your eyes are on the haughty, that You may bring them down.”

Unbeknownst to himself perhaps this verse is somewhat of a prophetical word that would reflect David’s life in a nutshell, (perhaps not doctrine but it is an observation). In the prior verses David attributes his own salvation from the hands of Saul and his many enemies, to his right standing before God.

In verse 20, he states that God delivered him because He, God delighted in him. In verse 21, he claims that God rewarded him according to his own righteousness, his cleanness of hands. In verse 23 David states that he did not depart from God’s statutes and judgements. In verse 24 he states that he is blameless before God. In verse 25 he says he has been rewarded for his own righteousness.

Even the man after God’s own heart was not beyond reproach. Read 2 Samuel Ch 11. The story of David, Bathsheba, and Uriah. There is only One that is righteous only One that is good. The rest of us need all of God’s mercy, all of God’s grace. Let us seek it in humility, not with a haughty or any type of self-righteous attitude. Let us seek to please Him with hearts of humility.
